The same steps, always in the same order, so every model you keep can be explained and reproduced.

Understand
Understand your data before training.
InferLabs doesn't train blindly. It checks what is inside the dataset first: missing values, duplicates, columns that look like IDs, and what the target actually represents.
It reads the content of the target, not just its data type: numbers stored as text, categories, discrete values and identifiers are each explained.
Compare
Compare models on your data, not on one lucky split.
Every model is scored with cross-validation on the training rows, using the preprocessing that suits it. The recommendation comes from those scores; the held-out test rows are only used for the final check.
Which model wins depends on your data. The values shown are illustrative.
Evaluate
Evaluate honestly.
Each model is graded against a mean-value baseline and fold-to-fold noise, then checked on rows it has never seen, with diagnostics that show where it is wrong.
A weak model is never called good.
Version
Keep every version.
A version stores the model together with its exact preprocessing and hyperparameters. An optimized version is kept only when cross-validation improves; nothing is activated behind your back.

No leakage between folds
Preprocessing is fitted inside every fold.
Imputation, encoding and scaling are learned from each fold's training rows only. Validation and test rows are transformed, never fitted.

Baseline training
Locked
Every selected model is trained with its default settings on the same train/test split. Each model gets preprocessing suited to it, chosen by cross-validation on the training rows. No hyperparameter tuning.
Chosen from the class balance when training starts.
Automatic: balanced class weights only when the classes are clearly imbalanced (3:1 or more). Rows are never resampled or synthesised.
Precision, recall and F1 are reported for this class.

Test R²/RMSE/MAE: held-out test rows. CV R²: 5-fold cross-validation on training rows only. Each model uses its own preprocessing, chosen by CV. The recommendation uses CV only — the test set is never used to choose — and the final choice is yours.
Optional next step
Improve models with hyperparameter optimization
Baseline models trained successfully. Would you like to optimize some of them? Each selected model's hyperparameters are searched on the training rows only; a tuned model is kept only if it beats its baseline in cross-validation.
Model selection uses cross-validation. Test metrics are shown only for final evaluation.
